Post #17: Have you heard about Ebates?

Hello everyone!

Here’s a quick quiz:

1) Do you shop online?

2) Do you like to use coupons and promo codes when you shop online?

3) Would you be interested in getting cash back when you spend online?

If you answered yes to even one of the above questions, you need to know about Ebates.com.

Perhaps you already have. I can’t imagine I’m the first person to tell you about it. But just in case you have no idea…

Ebates is a shopping site that gives you up to 26% Cash Back when you shop online at certain stores. There are over 1000 stores that participate including eBay, JCPenney, Sephora, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Overstock.com, Walmart, Kohl’s and Home Depot. They also identify any current promotions, sales, or coupons that a store might offer.

Here’s an example: If you shop at Sephora.com, (which, who doesn’t?) go through Ebates and get 8% back on your total. So if you spend $100, you’ll get … yep, $8.00 back! Ebates pays out your cash back four times a year, so if you shop online often you’ll have a chance to build up a nice amount. You can get paid by check, or you can have the amount deposited into your Paypal.

So what’s the catch? No catch. Ebates gets paid a commission by the companies they feature on their website, so it benefits everyone. Businesses are eager to be a part, too – Borders advertises them on their website and Sephora greets you with a “Welcome Ebates Shoppers!” message.

Ever since I was laid off from my fancy editor job, I have drastically scaled back on my online shopping. But just in the last year, I’ve been paid back over $200 from Ebates!  And that’s with me barely spending! My mother, who shops online more than most, has earned three times as much as I have in the same amount of time.

Check it out! Plus, if you sign up with Ebates and mention that I referred you, we’ll each get a $5 bonus when you make your first purchase! (If you’re really interested in the bonus, leave a comment and I’ll send you my email, which is how you identify that I referred you.) It’s five dollars just for nothing! 🙂
Happy shopping!

Khim, I am so sorry about replying to you so late! I can’t imagine you still need this information, but just in case … Ebates is super super easy to use. You log in, then either browse stores or search for a specific store, like, say, Target. Click on the orange “Shop Now” button and it will automatically take you to that stores’ website. Then, all you have to do is shop! It’s that easy. They send out checks four times a year, and those dates are posted on their website. You can also choose to get your money sent directly to Paypal, which is cool. Good luck!
