I remember watching Magic’s retirement ceremony with my Dad when I was nine. I remember there were many tears and demands to my Dad of “But why??” (Being nine I didn’t fully understand the whole HIV issue.)

I loved number 32, and I mean loved him. I wrote so many school reports on my admiration for the Laker point guard that my teachers started picking essay topics for me, unlike everyone else who was allowed to pick their own.

To this day he remains my favorite athlete, and in my opinion, the epitome of sportsmanship and class. And of course, talent on the court!

I love you, Magic!
